What Would You Do With $100.00?

Categories: Service & Volunteering

A member called today with a unique situation. Her company had given her a challenge to do something nice for someone and spend $100.00. She called the church for suggestions.

Three options came to my mind:

1. Purchase food and volunteer in the food pantry,

2. Purchase a household item for our recent Solomon House with Out of Darkness

3. Purchase an item for a family who had just suffered the tragic loss of their husband/father.

All were of interest to her. Although she is a member who attends regularly, she was unaware of the many opportunities in which she could personally serve and make a difference. She decided on two of the projects and was personally going to match her company’s donation.

You don’t need $100.00 or even $10.00 or $1.00.

What could you do to make a difference?

There are so many ways in which you can serve with your time and resources at HMUMC. You just need to make a choice.

I think I would give $25 to each of Robin’s suggestions and then $25 to The Rooftop :-)!

I would split it between ministries. A lot of people don’t know that their company may match their donations. So if they are going to donate cash, they should check to see if their company matches. Just think of what could be done with double the donation!
