October Virtue – Honor!

Honor slide

Dear Parents,
September is behind us so we are packing up Courage and opening up a new virtue for October. I am excited that we will be exploring HONOR! Honor is letting someone know you see how valuable they really are.
All of God’s creation is important to Him. Jesus told us that God knows each sparrow, even though there are thousands. Likewise, he knows the number of the hairs on each of our heads. He shows us how much he values us by loving us so much. We follow God’s example when we show honor to others. Every person we meet has value to God and deserves our honor. Our memory verse this month is Romans 12:10 – “Love each other deeply. Honor others more than yourselves.”

We need your help this month as we help kids learn to honor each other, no matter what. When you see your child showing honor to someone else this month; please let us know. You can…

  1. Send me an email  at traci.lowry@hmumc.org.
  2. Write a note and hand it to the Crossing Guard on Sunday mornings.
  3. Or even better, share your child’s act of honor with everyone in the comment box below!

Please be sure to write your child’s name and a brief description of their act of showing honor. These submissions will be dropped in our “Honor Box” which will be displayed on The Rooftop throughout October. Starting the second Sunday of the month, we will draw from the box and the person chosen will get a Seat of Honor for Large Group!

I hope that you have had the opportunity to spend some time with your child doing the devotionals we have been sending home, GodTime cards. Don’t forget to sign them and bring them back on Sunday to accumulate points for a special prize!

Many Blessings,
Traci Lowry

Our girls, Kaylin and Ella did a great job Honoring those who receive food from the HMUMC Pantry. This weekend while playing outside with some friends, the girls decided to get a box from the garage and collect food for the Pantry from neighbors on our street. They came up with the idea on their own, and filled the whole box!!

Please be sure to post anytime you see a Crosstown Kid honoring others. Anyone can post: parents, small group leaders, frineds…anybody who witnesses one of our kids honoring God by serving others!
