“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”  1Chronicles 29:14
Last Sunday, was Commitment Sunday for our Growing Together – Generation to Generation Campaign. Despite the cold and rain, we had a generous response to the vision God has set before Hamilton Mill UMC. So far, 215 families have said yes to God’s leading and a total of $1,846,598 has been committed. The leadership of the church is moved by the generosity to date.
The most important number right now is 374. There are over 400 families that have yet to respond to God’s call.  Remember, we are “Growing Together” as a congregation. The vision God has set before this church cannot unfold unless each of us search our hearts and join together as one congregation. Only together, can this $3M goal be met.
If you have not yet turned in your card, know that we need you. Every commitment matters. I believe we will meet our goal, we could even surpass it, if those who have yet to commit, give as those who have already returned their cards. To make your pledge online CLICK HERE. We will announce the total amount pledged at our Celebration Event on Sunday, March 30 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.
It is a great time to be a part of Hamilton Mill UMC. It is also a great time to invest in our future through our Growing Together – Generation to Generation Campaign.
A long time ago, King David called for an offering for the building of the Temple. One by one, families came and presented their gifts. Some families brought gold, others gem stones and others wood. Not all gifts were equal. However, each family shared in the sacrifice. The people were overwhelmed with what God had provided.
I believe we have an opportunity to experience this same joy. God has blessed us. We are a blessed people. God has provided, all He asks is we share a portion with His church and invest in the work of His kingdom.  You are not a donor, you are an investor. Your gift is an investment in the furthering of our faith and tradition. Your gift is an investment in the worship of our church. Your gift is an investment in the next generation.
Many people have shared with me in conversation, e-mail or by phone, how they are giving. Some are giving out of savings. Part of Rachael’s and my gift is from resources we have saved. Some are cutting corners and giving out of their monthly income. Some have discovered there are great tax advantages by giving appreciated stock. My prayer is everyone brings their very best to God.
I feel blessed, honored and overwhelmed to be a part of this church. One day, all of us will drive by and see the cross lifted high. Children will be walking into the preschool while church bells ring out the hymns of our faith. The youth will be gathering around God’s word. In a healthy way I’ll think, I played a part in that God-sized vision. I want you to have this joy as well. We are 374 families away from seeing all God is going to do.
In Christ,
Dr. David L. Davis
