High School Mission Trip to Guatemala

April 5 – 11, 2014 – Gwinnett County Springbreak

Jesus said: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ -Matthew 22:37-39

On the mission High School Mission Trip to Guatemala, these commands will take on a different flavor. As we travel and spend time in Christian community, we’re better able to see God’s love for us. As we encounter neighbors in great need, we’re better able to see that God has given us a great task to love others. And on a mission trip there is intentional time and space provided to love God and love your neighbor.

Through shared stories, work, worship, and fun, mission trips reveal that Christ is stronger than any distance, skin color, language barrier, and resource deficiency. Mission trips help reveal the sufficiency and power of Christ. As we go, we will grow!

Make a Donation

Students will be working with Impacto Ministry to reach out to children through VBS and to build a kitchen onto a local church. The kitchen will enable this church to begin a new branch of “Happy Tummies,” a ministry that provides holistic after-school care to children by feeding them lunch, teaching them Bible stories, & assisting them with their school-work. God has already changed the lives of many children and adults through this ministry, and this new branch will enable God’s love to be spread further. Your donation will go toward the costs of building the kitchen and outfitting it with a refrigerator, stove, and other essential equipment. You will be helping a child regularly experience a “Happy Tummy” and a happy heart that has been shown the love of God!

Why Guatemala?

God has been preparing the student ministry for its first international mission trip for a few years now. Before arriving at Hamilton Mill UMC, Blake, Paul, and Jonathan all visited Guatemala and spent time with local churches and ministries there. Through their experiences, they found Guatemala to be a safe country where God is doing a great work. Now they want to share the opportunity to partner God’s work with the students!
