We have arrived. Safely. With all 40 of our checked bags!
The trip here couldn’t have been smoother. Our flight left on time, 9 people were bumped up to Business Class for free due to overbooking, we loaded up our bags on our bus in Guatemala City, and then we started the 4 hour bus ride to Lake Atitlan.
Currently, I’m looking out over a dark lake that is illumined by small patches of lights that villages cast into the night. The students are now in bed and will be shocked by beauty as they see the lake illumined for the first time in the morning light. And I doubt it’ll be the last time we’re shocked by beauty this trip. Tonight we prayed in our devotional time that God would open us up to his transforming power and we’re eagerly expecting this to happen.
We hope to update this blog once or twice a day. If we miss a day, don’t worry. Our internet is probably just out. If you have questions, comments, or things you’d like to hear about, please comment below! We’ll include some photos and videos along the way.
We’ll also be having some students guest write for us throughout the week.
Tonight’s entry is written by Hunter Buick.
God has blessed us with this amazing trip. Let me tell you a little about it:
Today was my first plane ride that I was awake and able to remember. Although the crowded space was out of my comfort zone, it only got more hectic. After making it safely through security and customs, we waited a good 30 minutes for our bus to arrive. The bus was very uncomfortable for someone who is my height (6’2”), but an aisle seat was available.
Everyone is safe. Everything else was amazing.
I think I can speak for all of us when I say we miss all our family members. Just remember that God is keeping us all safe.
We love you guys and we miss you and wish you could see the beautiful scenery!
Our chicken bus for the week!
