TONIGHT – Friday, April 18 at 7:00pm

This celebration and contemplation service guides you even further on Jesus’s journey to the cross with special music, video, readings and a time of reflection, meditation and prayer. Childcare is available for children 3 years and younger.

Today, on Good Friday we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. It is followed by Easter, the day Jesus was raised from the dead, victorious over sin and death and pointing ahead to a future resurrection.

So, why do we call Good Friday “good,” when it is commemorating a day of suffering and death for Jesus?

Good Friday is “good” because as terrible as the crucifixion was, it had to happen for us to receive the joy of Easter. The suffering and death of Jesus, marked the culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins.  We receive forgiveness, mercy, and peace because Jesus willingly took our punishment, the result of God’s righteousness against sin. Jesus endured the cross on Good Friday, knowing it led to his resurrection, our salvation, and the beginning of God’s reign of righteousness and peace.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
