January on the Rooftop – Commitment
Categories: Crosstown Kids
This month at Crosstown Kids we are going to dig deeper into ways in which we can get to know God better. Whether you play an instrument or a sport, sing, dance or act on stage, the only way to truly get better is by practicing. The same is true for growing and maturing in your relationship with God. It takes practice. It takes commitment. Commitment is: making a plan and putting it into practice. This month we will practice by honing in on 4 faith skills.
Week One: Kids learned about practicing to HEAR God by spending time in His word. We visited Matthew 7:24-27 and built our own houses on the Rooftop! One on a solid foundation, the other on a not so solid one!
Week Two: We will discover how PRAYing anytime, anywhere, about anything is important to growing in faith. God is always listening! We’ll look closely at Luke 11:1-4, and spend time in the Lord’s prayer.
Week Three: Another way to get to know God better is to TALK about him. Of course with those who do not know him, but also with others who believe in Jesus. Matthew 16:13-20 looks at the moment Peter professed his faith in Jesus.
Week Four: Loving and serving others is how we LIVE as believers of Jesus. We will discuss how to practice living for God every day with whatever we are doing and no matter what we have. We’ll discuss the widow’s offering in Mark 12:41-44.
Our memory verse is from 1 Timothy 4:8a, “Training the body has some value. But being godly has value in every way.
Won’t you help your child practice their faith this month by bringing them to Sunday morning worship at 9:30 or 11 and by completing GodTime devotions with them each week? We can’t wait to see what God will do in your family as together you commit to practice your faith and grow in your relationship with God!
