FB_IMG_1437666442964We are honored to announce that Shawna Vincent is our new Associate Director of Children’s Ministry at Hamilton Mill UMC.

Shawna is well qualified for her new position as the Associate Director of Children’s Ministries with a Bachelor Degree in Human Development, an Early Childhood Education Certificate, Elementary Education Certification and Teaching License. Shawna’s love for children started at an early age. She has worked with children since the age of 17, starting as a childcare provider, working as a nanny, as an assistant teacher, and Sunday school teacher. Prior to joining HMUMC, she served at Nappanee Missionary Church as the Transition to Ministry Intern for Kindergarten and 1st Grade.

A team of church leaders and pastors here at HMUMC prayerfully considered each and every candidate for an Associate Director to help Traci Lowry lead the Children’s Ministry. We are confident that Shawna is going to make an excellent addition to the mission of our church.

Shawna officially joined the church staff this week. She has jumped right into helping Traci, but she took the time to chat with us about her new position.

What do you believe God has called you to do here at HMUMC?

I believe God has called me to continue to develop the children’s ministry at HMUMC. To provide a fun and safe place for kids to connect with each other, with adults, and most importantly with God.

I believe God has called me to HMUMC to love on the kids and their families.

What is your vision for your position?
My vision is to empower and equip children to own their faith and follow Jesus with all of their heart.

Where would you like to see your ministry in 5 years?
In 5 years, I would like to see the ministry as a community and family that is not only learning about our faith but living it out as well.

Please join us in welcoming Shawna to our church family, she will be here on Sunday working with our Crosstown Kids. We will introduce her to the congregation in services on Sunday, August 9.
