A prayer for Guatemala – Day three

Categories: High School,Students

Today was a day of sabbath rest for the team. The students helped lead a worship service for the mission team and the Impacto staff, they relaxed at The Promised Land property, and enjoyed worshiping at La Iglesia Evangelica Wesleyana Shalom—a local church.

Below are some words and a prayer written by Katie Hill that were shared at worship this morning.

A Prayer For the People of Guatemala

A scripture that has been tugging on my heart these past couple of days in the midst of all of His beautiful creation is Psalm 8:3-9 (NIV):

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon & the stars, which you have   set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels & crowned them with glory & honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks & herds, & the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, & the fish in the sea, all that swim in the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the Earth!

Lord, just looking at Your creation in this beautiful, bountiful country, this nation alive with Your craftsmanship, with the stars as bright & clear as the lights from that of nearby cities, why would You consider us, as a people, significant, more beautiful than all of the wonders of Your creation?

Lord today & the days following, I pray that You would lift up the beautiful people of Guatemala & allow Your Spirit to shine through them as radiantly as it does throughout the depths of Your creation.

I pray that Your glory would elevate the people of this great nation as high as the mountains that line its foundation.

I pray that Your love would pour as deep as the waters in front of us.

I pray that Your Spirit would shine as bright as the cities beyond, piercing through the dense fog.

I pray that Your presence would be felt like the wind dancing across the water, making extravagant waves, reflecting Your grace.

I pray that you would cover the people of this nation with the strength & majesty, mirroring the great land in which they command.

Lord, I praise You for all of the glory that You have shown in the beautiful country of Guatemala & all that You will show going forward.

I love You & I praise You. It’s in Your name I pray. Amen.

Prepping for some crafts with the kids tomorrow!

Try as I might, I have been unsuccessful in keeping Matt from getting himself into trouble. Yesterday while we were doing our weekly dance routine for the old folks home, he decided to wear his cat outfit. Well, the residents were terrified thinking they were being attacked by a giant man-eating cat. The pandemonium that ensued resulted in the police and animal control being called out to the home. Good news is everyone is fine, and the paramedics said the effects of the tranquilizer darts should start to wear off today and Matt will be back on his feet. As you can imagine, a cat his size required several darts. The boys and I are rotating shifts and helping him to his litter box hourly.

Why does Will look like he’s about to drop the most fire album in the history of Guatemala?

Prayers for health and stamina for y’all. 🙂
When I saw the mountain you climbed to The Cross, with love please know that I prayed for: tons of sunscreen; lots of BIG hats;plenty of drinkable, refreshing water;and no ‘accidental’ trips. xoxoxoxo

Well Abby, we looked at your Sunday (day of rest) photos and we were so proud as you were doing what you do best, nothing. Ha.
Ironically today, we hired some 17 year old boys to help with our flower bed transformation and the money we paid them is going toward their mission trips this summer. They said they didn’t want to stay at home and hang out with their family, imagine that.
In reality, we miss you lots and we know you are touching others like we know you were made to do.
Love you and see you soon,
    Mom and Dad

First I wanted to tell you that the prayer that you wrote was fabulous. You have such a way with words. Just beautiful!
AND, OH MY GOSH! I so missed having you watch the national championship game with me. One of the best games that I have ever seen!! Villanova won in the last second. Actually, there was less than a second on the clock. Unbelievable 3 pointer by Jenkins Had to share as I know how much you would have enjoyed the game.
    Love and hugs!

Hi Jacquelyn, Daniel, Meghan and Katie,
    Sending prayers your way.
I thought about sunscreen in my post yesterday, but today bug spray is on my mind . Hope you’re set with that. 🙂 Hmmm, think it could be the image of the stink bugs that seem to have taken a liking to our house lately?! 🙂
Of course, yesterday I posted to Amelia aka gma – think there is anyone with you with either of those monikers?
Still praying for stamina and health for my loves as you reach out in His name, with His heart and by His grace.
    Love You, Mom/Gma
