July on the Rooftop – Week One

The summer is in full swing here at HMUMC and we are continuing our conversation about “Faith” – believing that what Jesus did can change me.  We have been in the book of Acts for a few weeks following Paul on his journeys.  This week we learned that the rules that Jewish people had to follow should not stand in the way of people coming to faith in Jesus.  We learned that God’s gift of salvation, through Jesus, is for everyone; no matter what you’ve done or where you are from.  Our Bottom Line for this week is:  The story of Jesus is for everybody!  Our memory verse is Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

Please consider volunteering in Children’s Ministry this summer!  We have many opportunities on Sunday mornings or during WinShape Camp.  Contact me at traci.lowry@hmumc.org or 770-271-8855 ext. 304 for more info or to volunteer!

We have an immediate need for more volunteers in our special needs classes at 9:30am and 11:00am.

Please have your kids bring their Bibles to church, we look up scripture EVERY Sunday and we love for them to have their own copy of God’s word to use.  Don’t hesitate to let us know if your child needs a Bible!

Crosstown Kids rising K-5th grades should be dropped off in the Rooftop on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:15am or 10:45am.  They will get checked in and greet their small group leaders in a designated area in the Rooftop.  After our large group worship experience, kids will head downstairs for small group time by age level.  For the summer, K-1 will be picked up in Room 147, 2-3 in Room 143, and 4-5 in Room 150 after parents are through with worship.

Mark Your Calendar:

July 18-22:  WinShape Camps for Communities is coming to HMUMC again!  Sign up here to volunteer or participate.  Don’t miss the Best Week Ever!

August 7:  Blessing of the Backpacks – Join us at 9:30am or 11:00am and bring your backpack to church so that your church family can pray for you during worship before school starts.  Last year’s blessing was an awesome experience, I know you won’t want to miss it and will want the sweet cross on your backpack that has been prayed over for you by so many.

Sept 9 – Sept 11:  Rock On, Crosstown Kids Retreat for 3rd-5th grades.  Visit www.hmumc.org/crosstownkidsretreat for more information. Registration will be open soon.  Parents, please prayerfully consider joining us on our first ever trip away with the kids.  I need at least four adult leaders to join us!
