July on the Rooftop – Week Four
“Faith” – believing that what Jesus did can change me, has been our focus all summer in Crosstown Kids. We have been in the book of Acts for a few weeks following Paul on his journeys. He had quite a few struggles, including being shipwrecked on his way to Rome. In the perfect style of Paul, he never wavered, his faith in God stood strong throughout his struggles.
Our bottom line this week is, ” The story of Jesus changes how I see my problems.” Things don’t always turn out the way we expect them to, but we can trust that God will always help us.
Our memory verse is Ephesians 2:8, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Please prayerfully consider volunteering in Children’s Ministry in some way. Our Pre-K Sunday morning class needs to fill all of their spots on Sunday mornings, and our Special Needs class at both 9:30am and 11am needs volunteers. We have lots of exciting things going on in our church and as a volunteer you get to experience them first hand!
Thank you to our church family and the many volunteers who helped make last week the Best Week Ever for over 425 kids! WinShape Camps for Communities took over our space and helped us to share the good news of Jesus with campers and volunteers alike. This camp would not be possible without this church’s support! Click here to take a look at our 2016 HMUMC WinShape highlight video.
Please have your kids bring their Bibles to church, we look up scripture EVERY Sunday and we love for them to have their own copy of God’s word to use. Don’t hesitate to let us know if your child needs a Bible!
Crosstown Kids in rising K-5th grades should be dropped off in the Rooftop on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:15am or 10:45am. They will get checked in and greet their small group leaders in a designated area in the Rooftop. After our large group worship experience, kids will head downstairs for small group time by age level. For the summer, K-1 will be picked up in Room 147, 2-3 in Room 143, and 4-5 in Room 150 after parents are through with worship.
Mark Your Calendar:
August 7: Blessing of the Backpacks – Join us at 9:30am or 11:00am and bring your backpack to church so that your church family can pray for you during worship before school starts. Last year’s blessing was an awesome experience, I know you won’t want to miss it and will want the sweet cross on your backpack that has been prayed over for you by so many.
August 14: Kickoff Cookout – 4:00pm to 6:00pm. At this family-fun event, you will get the chance to sign up for a new growth group, learn more about serving opportunities, jump around in bounce houses, and snap a family picture in our fun photo booth from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. At 5:00pm, we will end our special evening with a delicious FREE family-style hamburger or hot dog dinner in the Sanctuary. Join us and together we will discover how we can serve as the hands and feet of Christ while having a little fun too!
Sept 9 – Sept 11: Rock On, Crosstown Kids Fall Retreat for 3rd-5th grades. Visit www.hmumc.org/crosstownkidsretreat for more information. Registration will be open soon. Parents, please prayerfully consider joining us on our first ever trip away with the kids. I need at least four adult leaders to join us!
