VBS 2017 Mission Projects
An emphasis on missions shows kids they do not have to wait to be adults to make a difference. Our 2017 VBS mission projects challenge kids to make a difference now, where they are, and with the resources they have.
This year we are collecting coins for Trinity Soup Kitchen, a local ministry that feeds the homeless in Atlanta, AND food donations for The Pantry at Hamilton Mill UMC.
By collecting coins and bring in food donations, kids get a glimpse into the far-reaching impact the church has on their community.
Serving as a family after VBS!
You can continue to serve both of these HMUMC missions and ministries after VBS comes to an end!
The Pantry at HMUMC
The Pantry is open every Saturday from 9:30am to 11:30am and feeds well over of 100 families each week. There are no eligibility requirements for patrons to receive food, all are welcome. The Pantry relies 100% on the generosity of volunteers and donors to support ongoing operations. Learn more about volunteering as a family and donation needs at www.hmumc.org/thepantry.
Help Serve the Homeless of Atlanta!
Help Prepare Meals: Saturday, June 24 – 9am to 12pm
Prior to making the trip to Trinity Soup Kitchen we will gather in “The Rooftop” to make the 1,200 sandwiches that will be served on Sunday. Food preparation is open to all ages. No need to sign up; just show up and be ready to have fun serving.
Help Serve Meals: Sunday, June 25 – 10am to 4pm.
After the meal is made, a group travels to Trinity UMC in Atlanta to serve the meal (must be 13 years and older). Meeting those that are being served is a blessed experience – you may just find that you get more out of the experience than you gave! If you are interested in serving meals on Sunday, June 25, please visit www.hmumc.org/trinitysoupkitchen. We will meet at the church and carpool to Trinity UMC.
