1. Hurricane Relief

HMUMC’s Help for Harvey!
HMUMC is joining the United Methodist Committee on Relief’s efforts to help provide relief to the many victims of hurricane Harvey.

Here are 4 easy ways you can help!

  1. Monetary Donation Click here to make a monetary donation online or write a check to HMUMC and mark it “UMCOR.”
  2. Donate Relief Kit Items Click here to see a list of the items needed to make relief kits. PLEASE sign up, so we can monitor the items we need to reach our goal of 100 kits. Donation bins are located in the Worship Center.
  3. Relief Kit Packing Party Click here to sign up for our packing party on Wednesday, September 6th at 6:30pm in the Student Center.  *If you plan on joining us for Wednesday Night Supper just before the packing party at 5:30pm, please click here to RSVP for supper.
  4. Pray!Please continue to pray for those whose lives have been impacted by hurricane/tropical storm Harvey. Please also pray for the Early Response Teams, disaster coordinators, and many volunteers in The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Louisiana Conference of The United Methodist Church, Río Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church and Central Texas Conference who are working tirelessly to provide relief after Harvey.

2. Food Fight for The Pantry

Friday Night Food Fight for The Pantry
August 21st to August 31st
Our local high schools are helping us fight hunger in our community by supporting The Pantry at HMUMC. Thank you, Dacula HS and Mill Creek HS! You can help them by bringing your donations to church. We have bins marked for each school by “The Rooftop.”
Items Needed: Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruits, Canned Meats,
Canned Soups, Spaghetti Sauce, Peanut Butter, Boxed Pasta, Rice, Dry and Canned Beans.

3. Women’s Growth Group Starting Soon

Women’s Bible Study | Present Over Perfect
Wednesdays 9:30am – 10:45am | September 6 – October 11
Led by Jennie Jackson and Shelby Harper
Cost: $8 | Childcare upon request
Join a great group of ladies on a journey from frantic pushing and proving, towards essential self. We’ll have fun getting to know each other as we reflect on Shauna Niequist’s book Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living.

4. Chrismon Workshop

Chrismon Workshop
September 12th at 10am in “The Shed”
Believe it or not, it is time to get ready for the Christmas Season! Join us for a workshop to make new ornaments for the trees in our Worship Center. We will have weekly workshops until we make enough to fill the trees. Each beaded Chrismon symbolizes Christ’s monogram. No experience required other than willing hands and joyful hearts. 5. Forsyth Philharmonic Performance

Forsyth Philharmonic!
Saturday, September 16th at 2 pm at HMUMC
All are invited to a performance of music from around the globe by the Forsyth Philharmonic! Directed by Jason and Rachel Landers, the orchestra will perform An American in Paris, selections from The Sound of Music, Egyptian Legacy, Pirates of the Caribbean, and several original works composed by members of the group! Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. The Forsyth Philharmonic is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit symphony orchestra comprised of adult professional musicians, teachers, hobbyists, and talented students.

6. Ministry Highlights

Bring Your HMUMC Piecemakers Prayer Quilt to Church
Sunday, September 17 at 8am, 9:15am or 11am
We are celebrating the love and prayers that our congregation has helped to spread through the Piecemakers Prayer Quilt Ministry. If you have received a prayer quilt from this special ministry, please bring your quilt to church on Sunday, September 17th. If you have requested a prayer quilt for a friend or loved one, this is the perfect time to invite them to worship with you at HMUMC!
KidsHope Volunteers Needed
We are looking for mentors to spend just one hour per week, reading, talking, playing and listening to a child at school. By helping the child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow and succeed.

September 5th
Mark your calendars, preschool and Mother’s Morning Out start school September 5th. Learn more and invite your friends with little one to sign up at www.hmumc.org/preschool.
Third Grade Bibles
Sunday, September 24 at the 9:15am and 11:00am services
One of our favorite days is just around the corner! Third Grade students will receive a Bible during the 9:15am or 11:00am worship services. Please sign up using the link below by September 20th, so that your third grader will receive their Bible.
Third grade parents, please have your third grader sit with you in service on September 24th. During the Bible presentation, we will recognize each third grader by name and invite them up front to receive their Bible. After all children have been presented with Bibles, they will return to their seats and continue worshiping with us in the Worship Center. After service, please join us up front for a group picture.

9. We Need You!

Receptionist Needed
The Receptionist position is a vital link between our church ministry and the congregation. This person serves as a gateway for all weekday activity and is the one most responsible for creating a positive and inviting impression of the church and its ministries. We are looking for receptionists to volunteer on the 1st, 3rd or 5th Tuesdays of the month from 9am-12pm and/or 12pm-3pm.  If interested, email jennifer.markham@hmumc.org.

HMUMC Nursery is hiring for our Sunday morning nursery and events through out the year.  Qualified candidates will be 18 years or older, certified in CPR and first aid (or willing to obtain certification), pass a background check, and have a love for children.  Interested applicants should contact Dana Terry at dana.terry@hmumc.org.

Our Special Needs Sunday school class is a lighthouse of hope, acceptance and belonging for individuals with special needs and their families.
