Weekly Top Ten – September 20

This Week’s Top Ten!
1. This Sunday
This Sunday, September 24th in Worship
Services: Word & Table Service @ 8am  |  Modern Service @ 9:15am  |  Traditional Service @ 11:00am
This Sunday we will continue a wonderful tradition by presenting Bibles to our third graders.  It’s always a great moment, but what is this portable library we are handing over to our children?  Its heft alone can be intimidating, and goodness knows there are folks who twist its words to suit themselves, but when we approach it with the questions of our souls, it’s amazing the truths we find.  All Scripture is “God-breathed,” Paul says, and even now, whenever we, the Church, faithfully and prayerfully gather in those holy words, God breathes upon us grace and power.  This Sunday, we’ll open its ancient pages once again and see what word God has for us.
Third Grade Bibles
THIS Sunday, September 24
at the 9:15am and 11:00am services
Third Grade students will receive a Bible during the 9:15am or 11:00am worship services THIS SUNDAY. Please sign up using the link below by TODAY, so that your third grader will receive their Bible.
Third grade parents, please have your third grader sit with you in service this Sunday. During the Bible presentation, we will recognize each third grader by name and invite them up front to receive their Bible. After all children have been presented with Bibles, they will return to their seats and continue worshiping with us in the Worship Center. After service, please join us up front for a group picture.

$10 for optional study guide
Family. We all have one. And, we often want our Future Family to be a step up from our families of origin. When it comes to family, what does your preferred future look like? Whether you’re starting a family, raising a family, or wondering if family’s worth the effort, this 6-part study provides direction and hope.
The Parables of Jesus
Pastor Mark’s Study Starting Soon!

Wednesdays 6:30pm-7:45pm | September 27 – October 25

Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.
-Matthew 13:34
What did he mean?  That’s always the question we ask when we hear one of Jesus’ parables. We want some answers, some rules, something we can run with, but Jesus keeps talking in parables.
Beginning September 27, Mark Westmoreland will guide us as we explore the “dark sayings” of Jesus, the parables.  Some are but a sentence, others rich and detailed stories, but they all have the power to draw us into the mystery and truth of the kingdom of God, the grace of God, and even the judgment of God.  As we tell the stories again, we’ll see what commentators and teachers have to say, but, more importantly, we’ll listen.  Where will the parables take us?  Jesus has something to say to us.  May we have ears to hear.
