This Week’s Top Ten!

1. Join the Fun! Host a TRUNK!

Fall Festival
Sunday, October 22 at 5:30pm
Join us for a Fall family fun day! We will gather for a FREE meal of hotdogs, chips, and fruit in the Worship Center starting at 5:30pm. While dining with your church family, get ready to be entertained by our talented, and always funny, Family Ministries team. Then at 6:10pm, the fun continues outside with our annual Trunk or Treat. Don’t forget to dress up in your Halloween costumes for this fun and safe trunk-or-treating experience. No scary costumes, please.
Adults, we need your help with this fun event! Gather your small group, a few friends or family and host a trunk. Go all out by dressing up and decorating your trunk OR simply park your car and provide candy for around 400 children. Trunk hosts will park and set up at 5pm, enjoy their FREE meal, and then head out to their trunks at 6pm, so they are ready for the crowd at 6:10pm. Click here to host a trunk!

2. Let’s Get Ready for Christmas!

Chrismon Workshop
Mondays, October 16, 23 & 30 from 1pm to 3pm in Room 339
It is time to get ready for the Christmas Season! Join us for one or all of our workshop days to make new ornaments for the trees in our Worship Center. We will have weekly workshops until we make enough to fill the trees. Each beaded Chrismon symbolizes Christ’s monogram. No experience required other than willing hands and joyful hearts. Please bring small needle nose pliers and wire cutters. For more information, contact Gayle Norton at mgbnut1973@yahoo.com.

3. Charge Conference

Charge Conference
Sunday, November 5 at 3:00 pm in the Worship Center
All church members are invited to attend our annual charge conference.  Voting members are members of the administrative council.  We will celebrate the year past, elect our officers for 2018, and approve clergy salaries.

4. A Special Event for our parents!

Parent Workshop: Boundaries with Teens

Wednesdays, November 8th & 15th | 6:30pm-7:45pm

The student ministry staff would like to invite all parents to join us for our two-session Parent Workshop. Beverly Neville, our well-respected HMUMC ministry, Bible study and student leader, will guide the evenings based on the book “Boundaries with Teens: When to Say Yes, How to Say No” by Dr. Townsend. We’ll give you practical guidelines, advice, and important keys for establishing healthy boundaries-the bedrock of good relationships, maturity, safety, and growth for teens and the adults in their lives.

5. New Women’s Study Starting Soon

Women’s Wednesday Morning Study – Boundaries
Wednesdays 9:30am – 10:45am | October 25 – November 15 | Led by Beverly Neville | Free Class (optional book)
This 4-week DVD and discussion based study will draw on the influential book of Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend, Boundaries. Have you ever found yourself wondering: Can I set limits and still be a loving person? How do I answer someone who wants my time, love, energy, or money? Why do I feel guilty when I consider setting boundaries? Christians often focus so much on being loving and giving that they forget their own limits and limitations. Discover how sound boundaries give you the freedom to walk as the loving, giving, fulfilled individual God created you to be.

6. GriefShare Event

GriefShare Event: Surviving the Holidays
Saturday, November 11 at 2pm
The passing of a loved one can leave you wondering if you will ever experience joy during the holidays again.  We understand and would like to invite you to join us for a special two-hour GriefShare event called “Surviving the Holidays.” You’ll learn things like how to deal with the many emotions you’ll face during the holidays, what to do about traditions and other coming changes, helpful tips for surviving social events, and how to discover hope for your future. Most importantly, you will have an opportunity to connect with others who understand how you are feeling.  RSVP to Pastor Jason at jason.mincey@hmumc.org for this free event.
