Family Mission Trip

Family Mission Trip Teaser

First Annual Family Mission Trip

If you’d like to learn more about HMUMC’s Family Mission Trip November 19th-22nd, join us for an interest meeting to learn more about the trip, have your questions answered, and get to know other families interested in serving together. It’ll be at 12:15 on Sunday, July 16th upstairs in Room 339.
Join other families and their children from HMUMC for an amazing opportunity to grow closer to Jesus by serving families in the mountains of North Carolina!
On this mission trip, your family will have the opportunity to make a difference in another family’s life by completing various service projects. All of the families we’ll work with are located around our home base for the trip: The Hinton Center in beautiful Hayesville, NC. The Hinton Center is a quick two hour trip and has great accommodations so that we’re well rested and well fed as we go and serve others. The Hinton Center serves five counties around it and in them 18% of the residents live in poverty. Many of the people we’ll work with are single parents, elderly, disabled, and people who are unemployed.
As you serve as a family, you’ll discover what it’s like to share the real love of Jesus in a real way to others! Once you’re home, you’ll be better equipped to serve those right around us as well.

1 John 3:16-18 NLT
16We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? 18Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
