Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

We believe that each one of us has special God-given talents, and we can use those unique gifts to make disciples and meet the needs of people in our community and in our world, not just within the walls of the church. We hope you’ll join us in our calling to GO and serve as the hands and feet of Christ.

Go Teams in our community

The Pantry

Due to the strong need in our community, Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church decided to create a special ministry devoted to addressing food insecurity in our area. Since 2009, The Pantry has rapidly grown from feeding 25 families a month to feeding well over 2,500 a month. The Pantry relies 100% on the generosity of volunteers and donors to support ongoing operations. The Pantry seeks to offer the Bread of Life to our community by providing quality food and building quality relationships rooted in the love of Jesus. Click here to learn more.

The Piecemakers

The Piecemakers Prayer Quilt Ministry lovingly creates beautiful quilts for those in need in our church and community. Join us for our next gathering in the Quilting Modular on Mondays from 10am-12pm. There’s plenty to do…no experience necessary! If you know someone who needs to be reminded that they are wrapped in God’s love and covered in prayers, please click here.

Desire Thy Portion

Desire Thy Portion is a Christ-centered organization serving the Atlanta Metropolitan Area that seeks to who how God redeems, restores, and has a purpose for everyone. They believe in empowering and equipping Atlanta's homeless and impoverished community by showing God's love, His redeeming word of truth, and His provision.

They serve the homeless and impoverished weekly with a hot meal, snack bag, clothing and hygiene supplies. Additionally, they offer support to those who are in transition from low-cost temporary housing and shelters who are moving towards job and personal/family security. This includes battered women, veterans, and those who are aspiring for a better life.

Good News @ Noon

The Good News @ Noon lovingly serves meals to under resourced families in Hall County once a month.

Kids Hope

Kids Hope develops these one-on-one relationships through the creation of church-school partnerships that pair church members with at-risk kids in supportive, mentoring relationships. We are looking for mentors to spend just one hour per week, reading, talking, playing and listening to a child at school. By helping the child feel loved and valued, they help that child to learn, grow and succeed.

Educator Outreach

We love our educators! Whether they are a classroom teacher, cafe employee, bus driver, parapro, media specialist, guidance counselor, school administrative staff, or serve in some other way, it is our honor to pray for them and offer our support. If you are an educator who would like to join this program, please click here.

Preschool Pals

Preschool pals is a new program we are starting this school year in September. We would love to invite our older members of the church to come and spend some time with our preschoolers. Our goal is for each of our 21 classes to adopt a special Preschool Pal that will come twice a month to read, do a craft, spend time with the class in music or movement. If you are interested, please click here to fill out an informational form so we can match you up with a class.  We will start at the end of September and finish in the first part of May. Since this is a new program, we may have to adjust things as we go, but I feel this will be a program that will bless all the volunteers as well as our preschoolers. Questions? Email Jennifer Markham, Preschool Director, at jennifer.markham@hmumc.org.

Military Support Group

The Military Support Group (MSG) assists local veterans and their families, promotes activities honoring patriotic holidays, and fosters support for the US Armed Forces within HMUMC.

You can be a part of building His kingdom in this place! Volunteers are at the core of children’s ministry; they help us teach children about God’s greatness and worth, encourage them to glorify God, inspire them to live holy lives, and challenge them to serve God joyfully. We are looking for people who are passionate about teaching children about our great God.

Emergency Response Team

Our Emergency Response Team (ERT) provides a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of a disaster. The team is trained to respond in a disaster to tarp, remove debris, clean out damaged homes and property, observe the survivors needs and report them to the proper authorities locally. They are a caring ministry of “listeners” who will assist the survivors healing. Teams are sent out for one to five days depending on the distance from HMUMC.

CLI Prison Alliance

CLI Prison Alliance began as Christian Library International in 1996 as a ministry providing free Christian books to community centers, shelters, and missionary families. As the ministry grew, focus shifted to working with chaplains in correctional facilities to reach inmates with God’s Word. Today, there are three sets of Bible studies available for inmates to complete. These three studies include 35 lessons teaching prisoners who God is, His leadership by His Spirit, and how to truly become a disciple of Christ. As of 2019, nearly 60,000 lessons have been completed by over 13,000 inmates. More and more volunteers have joined the ranks as Bible Ministers, Letter Ministers, Prayer Warriors, and on-site workers. Serving nearly 1,400 penal facilities.
